Songs for Stoners
And by Stoners, obviously I mean Rolling Stones fans.
I did this before, but I can’t find my list, so I’ve compiled a whole new list of songs by them that every fan new or old, in my opinion, should have in their possession.
Just like before, I took all the songs I have on my computer by the Stones, around 550 songs (studio and single versions, live versions, alternate tracks, bootlegs and everything in between), put them on shuffle, and selected the ones that are impossible to pass up. However, I did only include the studio or single versions in this list because adding other things was making this post entirely too long. And thus, here is my list, songs followed by year of original release.

I should just reblog this again before I end up reblogging every song on it instead

“Moonlight Mile” / The Rolling Stones
Oh I’m sleeping under strange strange skies
Just another mad mad day on the road
My dreams is fading down the railway line
I’m just about a moonlight mile on down the road

“19th Nervous Breakdown” /The Rolling Stones
When you were a child
You were treated kind
But you were never brought up right.
You were always spoiled with a thousand toys
But still you cried all night.
Your mother who neglected you
Owes a million dollars tax.
And your father’s still perfecting ways of making sealing wax.
You better stop, look around
Here it comes, here it comes, here it comes, here it comes
Here comes your 19th nervous breakdown.

“Monkey Man”/The Rolling Stones
I’m a fleabit peanut monkey
All my friends are junkies
That’s not really true
I’m a cold Italian pizza
I could use a lemon squeezer
What you do?
But I’ve been bit and I’ve been tossed around
By every she-rat in this town
Have you, babe?
Well, I am just a monkey man
I’m glad you are a monkey woman too

“Stray Cat Blues”/The Rolling Stones
You look so weird and you’re so far from home
But you don’t really miss your mother
Don’t look so scared I’m no mad-brained bear
But it’s no hanging matter
It’s no capital crime

“Who’s Driving Your Plane” /The Rolling Stones
It was your father who trained you and your mother who brained you
To be so useless and shy
But I just replaced them and tried not to break them
Because you could stand up if you tried
And I wanna see your face when your knees and your legs
Are just gonna break down and die
And, who’s driving your plane?
Who’s driving your plane?
Who’s driving your plane?
Who’s driving your plane?
Are you in control or is it driving you insane?

“Somebody That I Used to Know” / Elliott Smith
I had tender feelings that you made hard
But it’s your heart, not mine, that’s scarred
So when I go home I’ll be happy to go
You’re just somebody that I used to know
You don’t need my help anymore
It’s all now to you, there ain’t no before
Now that you’re big enough to run your own show
You’re just somebody that I used to know
I watched you deal in a dying day
And throw a living past away
So you can be sure that you’re in control
You’re just somebody that I used to know
I know you don’t think you did me wrong
And I can’t stay this mad for long
Keeping ahold of what you just let go
You’re just somebody that I used to know

“The Golden Age” / Beck
It’s a treacherous road
With a desolated view
There’s distant lights
But here they’re far and few
And the sun don’t shine
Even when its day
You gotta drive all night
Just to feel like you’re ok

“Rock and Roll Party” / Iggy Pop
Rock is rock if you’ll give it a shot.
Rock is rock if you like it or not.
The nylon stockings up your leg,
Might as well be screaming.

“I am Waiting” /The Rolling Stones
See it come along and
Don’t know where it’s from
Oh, yes you will find out
Well, it happens all the time
It’s censored from our minds
You’ll find out
Slow or fast, slow or fast
Oh yeah, oh yeah
End at last, end at last
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere
Waiting for someone to come out of somewhere

“Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” /The Rolling Stones
Yeah, you got satin shoes
Yeah, you got plastic boots
Y’all got cocaine eyes
Yeah, you got speed-freak jive
Can’t you hear me knockin’ on your window
Can’t you hear me knockin’ on your door
Can’t you hear me knockin’ down your dirty street

“Look What You’ve Done” / The Rolling Stones
And now your bird cries
The shadow falls
Gloomy memories
And I recall
Your love is my life
As warm as the sun
But now it is gone
And see what it done
